When unveiling the new 2021 F-150 Raptor last year, Ford promised an even more powerful and fearsome version would follow. This one will bear the name of Raptor R and everything now indicates that it will contain a supercharged 5.2-litre V8, as rumors had led us to believe.
During a presentation of the Bronco Raptor in the Southern California desert this week, the automaker gave the journalists in attendance a brief look at this extremely capable pickup truck.
Here’s what it looks like — in sight and sound — via a tweet from Ford CEO Jim Farley:

The Dinosaur War
Directly replicating the 702 horsepower Ram 1500 TRX, the new F-150 Raptor R will rely on the famous Predator engine of the Mustang Shelby GT500. For the moment, we do not know if it will generate as much as the 760 horsepower of the latter.
Based on a copy of the window sticker that surfaced on the web a few weeks ago, we also learn that a 10-speed automatic transmission, electronic locking rear differential (4.1 ratio :1) and 37-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires are on the program. There is also talk of electronically controlled Fox Live Valve shocks.
Expect the F-150 Raptor R to have the biggest gas tank offered by Ford, the 136-litre one. Naturally, it will be thirstier than the regular Raptor, which consumes between 15.3 and 15.8 L/100 km on average when fitted with 37-inch tires – in normal conditions and mild weather, we agree. As an indication, the Ram 1500 TRX burns close to 20 L/100 km.
In short, it really isn’t the best time to launch such a monster, as fun as it is, especially since the price of gasoline is likely to reach new heights by the end of the year. summer. watch The Car Guide in the coming weeks so you don’t miss the unveiling of the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R!
