The first rule: think outside the box. Which means going there at odd times, for example: many cinemas offer really attractive prices to fill their rooms, especially in the mornings. For example, the “Big screen” cinema at Teste de Buch (Gironde) sells its tickets at 6.50 on Sunday mornings, it’s 11 euros 80 in normal times.
Another way to pay less is to turn to independent cinemas
It’s true and that doesn’t mean going only to see auteur films, for example in Dives sur Mer (Calvados) the Drakkar sells its tickets at 5 euros 50. There it’s really interesting with the big films of the moment on the bill, there is among others the latest comedy by Franck Dubosc “Rumba la vie”.
Some networks offer subscription cards
Yes, this can allow you substantial savings. For 19.90 euros per month you will see as many films as you want in Pathé cinemas (12 month commitment) and if you take a duo offer it will be 33.80 euros…. If you go to see one film per week it is 4 euros 20 instead..
Community cinemas
If you are lucky enough to have one near you, you will find low prices, a solidarity project and often an eclectic program.
The videodrome 2, for example in Marseille, invites you to go see a film and pay as much as you can! On display in particular a nice cartoon for the youngest “on the other side of the sky”…
In the same spirit, the Ciné Breiz in Paimpol (Côtes d’Armor) offers screenings at 6.80 euros, on the bill, among other things, “Everyone loves Jeanne” with Blanche Gardin and Laurent Laffite.
