Of course, I’m talking about stores where everything is free, so it’s true that it’s a little weird at first, but very quickly it becomes natural, we take but we also give…things that could be useful and which you no longer need… these shops are looking for clean, high-quality, hand-carryable products. But these are not hangars as far as the eye can see, so we recommend one donation bag per person. It’s not barter either, you can give something without leaving with your arms full… It’s the gift economyabove all and recovery…
We do not find this kind of shops everywhere in France
And no, otherwise it would be known! But all the same it is starting to develop with each time an associative and solidarity project centered on the lifespan of objects, the gift, the exchange. For example in Alsace, there is the “store for nothing” in Mulhouse, also the “shop without money” in the 12th arrondissement in Paris, or sometimes these are ephemeral places like in Poitiers, an initiative carried out by the Circumactio association until the end of the month.
A cashless shop that is a success
1700 people have already been there in 3 weeks: people in precarious situations but also street neighbours, people who work in Poitiers, young people, retirees, students…
For the moment it’s an experiment, but Amélie Ribagier, who founded this store located at 8, rue des grandes écoles in Poitiers, is therefore hopeful that it will last…she is already looking for a place that she can finance with memberships from members of the association.
Le Bon coin: “donations only”
In the filters (place, category…) click on “ donations only » and you will discover free items! Here, there is a 6-seater wooden table that has just been put online, it can be picked up in Fleurieux sur l’Abresle, in the Rhône…free of course..
