In the Vosges, extension of the level of “enhanced drought alert”

Since July 18, the Vosges department has been placed at “enhanced drought alert“because of the lack of water this summer. Individuals, companies and communities, we are all forced to comply with measures restricting the use of water.

“An unprecedented situation” had then explained the prefect Yves Séguy, in mid-July, while this type of restriction only intervened at the beginning of August in previous years.

Extension of measures until October 31

This Thursday, September 29, the Vosges prefecture warns that it extends these water use restriction measures until October 31. She explains that “Although the rains in September were beneficial, they contributed to a significant improvement in the drought situation in the Vosges department. However, despite these more favorable weather conditions, the cumulative deficit during the summer season impacts the normal autumn low water period..”

Rivers still below thresholds

The Vosges prefecture further specifies that “the flows of the rivers are improving slowly, but remain below the thresholds and six rivers of the ONDE monitoring network (national low water observatory), which has thirty-one in the department, are still in a dry situation. Water resources remain fragile and the drought is not over. “

The corresponding restrictive measures remain in force and the checks will continue, warn the authorities. The decrees can be consulted in town halls and on the website of the Vosges prefecture.
