The situation is worrying in the Var, Saturday, October 22, precisely in the country of Fayence. 30,000 inhabitants of 9 municipalities must reduce their water consumption to 100 liters per day and per person, compared to the usual 148 liters. Cuts are feared.

At the lake of Saint-Cassien (Var), the pontoons are dry and the wrecks are even surfacing. The lake has rarely been so low. Its coast is about seven meters below normal. The mayor fears for the water supply of his municipality. “The level of the lake when it drops, it is no longer rejected because it is taken by the Canal de Province and also EDF (…) therefore automatically, we will lack water”declares Michel Félix, mayor of Tanneron.

The cause is the lack of rain and chronic drought. At the Pays de Fayence water authority, the curves are observed regularly. Éric Martel, the director of the water board fears water cuts by district “to allow the rest of the territory to be supplied properly”. The mayor has therefore decided to strike hard by limiting water consumption per person per day. The decree was taken jointly with the nine municipalities of Fayence. A flow reducer will even be installed for large water consumers. The elected officials appeal to the responsibility of the inhabitants.
