A vigil in front of the White House
Americans are increasingly divided even within the administration. Staffers wearing masks and goggles held a vigil outside the White House to call for a ceasefire. Josh Paul, a former State Department official who resigned, assures: “Our voices and those of the American people we serve demand that this violence stop. That is why we are calling on President Biden to support an immediate and permanent ceasefire.”
Anti-Semitic incidents have also increased on American campuses. The presidents of the three universities, including Harvard, were interviewed before the House of Representatives. For defending freedom of expression during this hearing, the president of the University of Pennsylvania was dismissed from her position. According to a recent poll, 45% of Americans are opposed to the Israeli military operation in Gaza.
