He was one of Donald Trump’s advisers at the White House: Steve Bannon has until Monday, July 1, to report to prison. The Supreme Court confirmed this last week. The right-wing populist ideologue was sentenced to four months in prison because he refused to cooperate with the commission investigating the assault on the Capitol.

He only spent a little over six months in the White House with Trump between January and August 2017. But Steve Bannon kept his boss’s ear. The two men speak on the phone on January 6, 2021: the day the president holds a meeting in front of the White House. The day he pushed his supporters to march on the Capitol to prevent the certification of the results of the November election and therefore the victory of Joe Biden. It was in particular for this appeal that the parliamentary commission of inquiry wanted to hear him, but he did not appear.

The American right-wing populist ideologue was sentenced to four months in prison for obstructing the investigative powers of Congress. He denounces a witch hunt: “All of this is for one purpose: to silence the Make America Great Again movement, to silence grassroots conservatives, to silence President Trump… Nothing will silence me! No jail time will silence me. We are going to win on November 5th in an incredible landslide with the Senate, the House, and Donald Trump back as President of the United States.”

The Republican candidate believes that the conviction of Steve Bannon is a tragedy for America. And he accuses Joe Biden of exploiting justice.
