It is part of the Tarn heritage: textile know-how has its school in Burlats, in Sidobre. The Missègle company has launched its own training, to transmit knowledge that has become increasingly rare in France in recent years. Hosiery, remeshing, or even the back-chain… 7-month qualifying training started on March 15. The first class is made up of 14 women. Beyond the transmission of knowledge, the objective for the Tarn company is to then be able to recruit these trained people.
Preserve local know-how
Among the people trained, some are already working for Missègle. Others not at all. “We come to train in trades that are no longer practiced today. It comes from an observation which is: it is difficult to recruit, it is difficult to recruit people who know how to do things, so we are going to recruit people who know how to be. And from there, we will teach them the know-how (…) We don’t need people who come from the textile sector, it’s more important to have people who want to be in the textile sector. In any case, we are on trades that are being lost. The textile industry in our region, in our truly local sector, has been completely degraded“, explains Olivier Billant, deputy director of the Missègle workshop.
We are on trades that are being lost
Among the students of the new school, 9 are looking for a job, and follow the Inov’emploi scheme. The Tarn company undertakes to hire at least 70% of them at the end of the training.
Today Missègle employs around fifty people. “To hire people who will replace those who will retire, and to develop, we had to roll up our sleeves and start training ourselves.“adds Myriam Joly, creator of the Missègle workshop.
