At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Fiat announced the return of the little 500 to the North American market. This time, it will opt for a 100% electric motorization and will carry a stylized 500e emblem.
As part of a new In Studio episode, our hosts Antoine Joubert and Mathieu Roy commented on this unexpected return.
“The Fiat 500e is already selling on the European market […] and now we’re bringing it back here,” says Antoine. The range of the vehicle is 150 miles or about 240 kilometers and it will go on sale in 2023 as a 2024 model, he explains.
This Fiat is likely to be successful in Quebec, especially given the enthusiasm for electric cars, but also because it will probably be an interesting urban car, Antoine believes.
“You have to understand that Fiat, in Canada particularly and in North America, has been on life support for years,” says Antoine. He has a hunch that the Stellantis Group will take a long time to bring electric vehicles like the Chrysler Airflow and Ram Revolution to market. This would explain why the Italian manufacturer will arrive with the 500e over the next few months.
