The scenario that all football lovers dreamed of looming: Italy and Portugal could well face each other in a decisive jump-off to advance to the 2022 World Cup. The last two European champions have both been placed in road C of the roadblocks, Friday, November 26, and could thus not go to Qatar … Everything will be decided next March, the Italians will host North Macedonia, and for their part, the Portuguese have hit the jackpot in inheriting Turkey for their semi-final.
The winners of these matches will face off in the C voice final to get one of the three remaining tickets for Qatar. Concretely: we could attend a duel at the top between Portugal and Italy.
Present by videoconference, the coaches must have appreciated the draw which was much more lenient for the other nations. In lane A, Scotland will host Ukraine in the first semi-final, while Austria will go to play their place in Wales. In lane B, we will have the right to a Russia-Poland shock and a Sweden-Czech Republic undecided.

As the matches are not round-trip, the draw also determined the location of the finals for each route. For lane A, it will be on the lawn of the winner of Wales – Austria. For track B, it will be in Russia or Poland. For track C, it will be in Portugal or Turkey. In the event of victory in the semi-final, Italy could thus play its place in the heat of Istanbul or on the lawn of the Portuguese.
