Workplace accidents, which cost the lives of 550 French people in 2020, could be avoided. This is particularly the case for falls. Example in a building company in the Paris region.

On a construction site, Tuesday, March 15, around forty workers are working, faced with the risk of falling. Antoine Branlot, works supervisor for Les Maçons parisiens, shows the equipment put in place to protect them. Guardrails are installed at height and on each walkway. When training a beginner, “we explain as it should, where he must put his feet, where he must walk“, says Ibrahima Kamissoko, a worker, who recalls that wearing a helmet is also compulsory.

Each year, 126,000 falls cause workplace accidents. They caused 95 deaths in 2019. Falls on the same level are added to those from heights and stairs. They most often occur in professions in the medical world, or home help. For Anne Thiebeauld, director of occupational risks at the CNAM, some companies, for which falls are recurrent, must ask themselves questions.
