It is in the heart of the city of Savine that this association offers a recording studio open to all with attractive prices. Here, we start rapping from a very young age, barely 11 or 12 years old. “It allows them to have a good time with equipment that they can’t have at home.” Malcom and Carla are the association’s two sound engineers, they record songs for children, teenagers and advanced players. And there is indeed a signature of Marseille rap. “The emphasis, and on the choice of compositions, we will say that Jul gave an influence, he says. In Marseille, people in the neighborhoods will be able to bury the hatchet when there is sound, music.”

Before becoming a sound engineer, Malcom was one of the young people from Marseillais to open the door of the association to record his rap written in his bedroom. At the Sound musical school, we encourage collective work in an era where everything can be done at home, explains Ali, one of the founders, member of a rap group from the 90s, B.Vice. “We say: ‘Come make music, come meet people, come learn’, he says. We advocate the rap of living together, doing things together, but we are not an artist factory.”

Recognized artists have still made their mark within these walls, like the rappers Soprano or Alonzo, who are on the new collective album carried by Jul, released Friday, 13 Organized 2.
