On the morning of Thursday, August 29, 77 migrants shipwrecked off the coast of Dunkirk in the North were rescued, the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea indicated in a press release.

When the Gris-Nez Regional Operational Centre for Surveillance and Rescue (CROSS), near Boulogne-sur-Mer in Pas-de-Calais, was alerted, it sent a patrol boat from the French Navy. When it arrived on site, the “Patrol vessel Cormoran noted that the boat was breaking up and that the people on board the boat were requesting emergency assistance.”

In several stages, a total of 77 people were rescued. They were then “deposited at the quayside in Calais and taken care of by land rescue services and border police”adds the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea.
