Seniors: in the Jura, nursing home residents go out to nightclubs – (France 2)

In the Jura, seniors who live in healthcare establishments come together to do an unusual activity. In the middle of the afternoon, they set the dance floor of a nightclub on fire.

In Courlaoux (Jura), residents of several Jura health establishments meet in a nightclub to spend an exceptional afternoon. “It’s nice to find yourself, at 85 years old, in front of a discotheque, we never thought we’d one day come to this age”, jokes a woman. Dozens of nursing home residents set fire to the dance floor. This idea is the initiative of animators who work every day with people who need cultural and festive activities.

“It rejuvenates us”

Nico Oliva, manager of the “Empire” nightclub in Courlaoux, did not imagine such enthusiasm from the elderly. “It’s nice that there are still people who come to have fun”he says. “There was Covid, we hadn’t gone out for four years, so we took advantage of the opportunity, (…) it rejuvenated us”, assures a woman. The public is won over and the experience should continue in the nursing homes of Lons-le-Saunier (Jura).
