The Dannemois mill, in Essonne, was the home of Claude François. The artist spent fourteen years in thisHouse of happiness“, as he described it.

In 1964, Claude François bought a mill, in Dannemois (Essonne), in order to move there with his family. Forty-four years after his death, the doors of the artist’s haven of peace are open to the public. An early loft, inspired by American homes, and furnished with objects that all belonged to him. “I have the impression that he is there, that he will not be long in coming back. We really feel it”says a visitor to the place.

For visitors, Claude François remains the man of all successes, even four decades after his death. At the Moulin de Dannemois, everything refers to the singer, including a swimming pool with sound. Between 1964 and 1978, the artist moved into his Paradise enclosure, step by step. But when he died, the mill was sold and then fell into disrepair. This place of pilgrimage would never have seen the light of day without the rescue of a couple of enthusiasts, in 1992, who restored the mill to an identical one, to the delight of the artist’s fans.
