Lyman (Ukraine) was liberated by Ukrainian forces a few days ago. Monday, October 3, journalists from France Télévisions were able to enter this city marked by the scars of war.
France Télévisions journalists were able to enter the town of Lyman (Ukraine), still in Russian hands a few days ago and now liberated. The city is marked by destruction. The first people encountered by the team of reporters are civilians. “We are happy that the fighting is over. (…) We’ve had enough”, explains one of them. The highly residential town of Lyman is now a ghost. Women collect objects from gutted stores or collect wood.
On the walls of some buildings, we find the “Z” of the Russian forces, or the acronym of the Soviet Union “CCCP”. In a street, a resident challenges journalists to go to a place where there are bodies. On the spot, they discover stretchers and corpses of several abandoned Russian soldiers. In the city center, the Ukrainian flag flies again over the town hall.
