Every year it marks the beginning of autumn. But the deer slab sometimes attracts too many visitors… Report.

It is a hoarse, inimitable cry that dominates the forest at the beginning of autumn. Every year, the deer slab sounds at the same time. It marks the beginning of the mating season. The cry of the deer in heat, supposed to chase away other males, attracts many tourists, often in a disorderly way.

So much so that in the Hautes-Pyrénées, the town of Cazarilh had to crack down. A municipal ban has therefore been published. No more cars can drive on municipal roads between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. In Antist (Hautes-Pyrénées), at dusk, a resident also suffered the massive arrival of motorists looking to see the deer. Each year, the National Forestry Office organizes numerous outings to listen to and observe this majestic parade of large stags, without disturbing their tranquility.
