The rate of booklet A, preferred investment of the French, doubles and goes from 1% to 2%. An increase supposed to compensate for the inflation of the last few months, but which does so only partially.

The rise in the passbook A rate which increases on Monday August 1st is good news for the banks since since the beginning of the morning, customers have followed one another to obtain information on this savings. “It is an investment which is tax-exempt so it is very interesting and above all, I have a child who is two months old and we are thinking of opening one for him.“says a customer.

The French place an average of 5,500 euros on their livret A. The rate, which has gone from 1% to 2%, will therefore bring in 110 euros per year on average. Some users find this increase too low. “It’s better than nothing, but it won’t change anything“, reacts a man. The increase in this rate is not enough to compensate for inflation which has a strong impact on the portfolio of the French. Some users with the lowest incomes are turning to the popular savings account, which has a rate of 4 .6%.
