“We will vote” the Republican motion of censure “if the government comes with an amended budget which says: ‘we are going to take 10 billion euros more from schools, research, health, etc.'”, affirmed, Tuesday April 9 on franceinfo, the national secretary of the PCF Fabien Roussel. The party led by Eric Ciotti has already announced that it “will not hesitate” to table a motion of censure if the government submits a draft amending finance law (PLFR) to reduce the public deficit and this text exceeds certain “red lines”, like rising taxes.
While INSEE estimates France’s public deficit at 5.5% of its GDP in 2023, Emmanuel Macron has already rejected the idea of a PLFR. Fabien Roussel affirms, for his part, that we need an amending budget that can be discussed in Parliament, to have “the possibility of amending and reorienting France’s financial choices”. However, “if it ever came to Parliament, like at the end of the year with the budget, we have the right to the guillotine with 49.3”, fears the elected communist.
Fabien Roussel recalls that Bruno Le Maire and Emmanuel Macron are “in responsibility together for seven years”. They are therefore “responsible for an aggravated, enormous deficit, the largest we have seen in recent years and a debt which is increased by 900 billion euros”he continues, pointing to their “very poor management of public finances”. “They are incompetent and they make us pay”he denounces, adding that “They are crooks.” “A company that would be managed like that, the board of directors kicks them out.” sums up the communist.
According to the leader of the Communist Party, the government has “reduces state revenue so much”, especially with the “removal of ISF”, “reduction in taxes on dividends” and the “reduction in taxes on multinationals”, “that there is no more money in the coffers”. “They spend 150 billion euros in aid to businesses without asking anything from businesses in return”, he denounces. According to him, these are “billions of euros” what do they receive “companies that pay dividends to their shareholders”. This money was “less taken”, “did not return to the company”, “was not used to invest and relocate”, neither “to increase wages”he notes.
