This train arrives at Pokrovsk station, in the Donetsk region, in the east of Ukraine to evacuate hundreds of inhabitants. Volunteers from the Médecins sans frontières association transport the elderly, sometimes disabled, on stretchers. Lydiya, 68, is preparing to leave the area. Rescuers found him in his basement, covered in blood. “We were bombarded all night”she explains.
Donetsk Ukrainians were ordered to evacuate. For some, this choice is difficult. It is sometimes necessary to decide under the pressure of the family who worries. The Donetsk region is still home to almost 200,000 people. In the east and south of the country, the bombardments are intensifying, such as in Mykolaiv where several buildings have been destroyed.
