There are more and more women in tech companies. This is the result of a survey, in partnership with franceinfo, called “Invest in himr”, literally: “Invest in them“. >> Around the world, women have much more difficulty in accessing employment than men

“Impact” companies

This survey focuses specifically on the representation of the co-founders of “impact businesses“, in the category of start-ups in France, these are the structures that opt from their creation for a strong societal commitment, using the economy as a lever to develop an anchoring in the social, cultural, educational, and more and more in the environment.

It’s not an official status, but more a desire to take initiatives on a daily basis, far from any idea of profit. It is a sector with strong development potential which is attracting more and more investors. The money drained by this type of structure has doubled since 2018 to exceed 400 million euros.

Preponderance of women

Nearly 30% of impact start-ups in France today were founded or co-founded by women entrepreneurs. A figure higher than all start-ups in all sectors. 48% of the consumer sector structures existing today in France were co-founded by a woman, 45% in education and culture, 26% in agriculture and food.

For Delphine Rémy-Boutang, who founded the Digital Women’s Day, this suggests, in the long term, a greater representation of women in French tech. It is above all a sign of a greater female commitment in the scientific sectors which, as we know, are one of the black points of training today in France.
