In Tarn-et-Garonne, in Faudoas, the father of the bride opposed the marriage and stabbed his future son-in-law on Saturday June 1st. The groom received seven stab wounds and was evacuated to a hospital in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) in the afternoon. Two other people are slightly injured, including the bride, reports France Bleu Occitanie on Saturday. The suspect has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway. The events took place in this village of barely 300 souls, a little before noon.

The father of the bride stabbed his future son-in-law just before the ceremony. Information revealed by La Dépêche du Midi and confirmed to France Bleu Occitanie by the gendarmes who explained that the father of the bride was opposed to this union “since a long time”. According to the military, the man jumped on his future son-in-law just before the bride and groom and their witnesses entered the town hall. He was hiding near the room.

The intervention of the guests and the mayor made it possible to separate him from the groom. “I had to tackle him, put him on the ground, contain him, take the weapon out of his hand and then I put my knee on his throat. So that he couldn’t move , I pinned his arm”, explains the mayor, who is also a former rugby player in Agen.

The future husband was seriously injured and was first transported to Montauban hospital then evacuated to a hospital center in Toulouse. His vital prognosis is not engaged, according to investigators. According to the first elements of the investigation, the father of the young woman has always opposed this union. He had tried to have the marriage annulled with the mayor on the grounds that around forty years separate the two bride and groom.
