Many products, previously freely available, are facing an upsurge in theft due to inflation, now under lock and key, behind the checkouts. This is also the case in the United States with everyday products, such as laundry detergent.

Laundry detergents protected by a padlocked chain, toothpastes placed under safety glass, and ice cream aisles locked. To avoid theft in American supermarkets, some of the products are kept under lock and key, such as deodorants or disinfectant wipes.

Increase in flights

“It’s a bit annoying sometimes because you have to call someone to get the product. But I understand, if it’s to help the store“, comments a customer. In the United States, thefts have increased in stores. Some customers sometimes steal entire bags of products, as evidenced by certain videos. Neighborhood convenience stores are not spared either. Experts say the increase in the number of flights can be partly explained by an ever-increasing cost of living.
