The Madeleine stadium was full on Saturday evening, in Montbrison, in the hope of a feat in the Coupe de France. He arrived with this qualification on penalties from Savigneux-Montbrison against Volvic, a team playing a division above the Foréziens. Nine years after their 32nd final lost against Vénissieux – Les Minguettes, the club wants to once again vibrate to the rhythm of the Cup and why not rub shoulders in the next round with a team that everyone knows…
“When I was vice-president of the club, I knew this 32nd final and we kept a great memory of it, c_onfies the one who has since become president of Savigneux-Montbrison, Gérard Arnaud. At the start of the season, I told the players that I wanted to make a good run in the cup in order to put us in the spotlight again. All of this is happening. Now we want to face a big one, even if it means losing 10-0. We would like to fall against ASSE, our partner club. Whether it’s against the Greens or another Ligue 2 team, we want to play against this kind of team, give it our all and, if we lose, come out with our heads held high.”_
The draw for the 7th round of the Coupe de France is scheduled for this Wednesday, at the end of the morning. Five teams from the Loire are in the running (AS Saint-Étienne, Andrézieux, Feurs, Roche Saint-Genest and Savigneux-Montbrison), as well as two teams from Haute-Loire (Le Puy and Velay Foot).
