In Saône-et-Loire, wooden toys are invited under the tree

Retro look, generous shapes and flashy colors: the wooden toy has not lost any of its splendor. In a workshop in Crottet (Ain), we are busy preparing the last Christmas orders. The toys are made from local raw materials. “It was important to do in France, to master our process from A to Z and to recreate jobs”, confides Robin Brébant, the co-manager of “Fraise et bois”. As Christmas approaches, the company’s activity has multiplied by 5. Around 3,000 toys were made in 2021.

“We are very proud, because we start with a material that is raw, that remains wood that we find everywhere, and with this simple material we create products that appeal to children and will serve them for years to come”, explains Thibault Chougny, carpenter and co-manager of “Fraise et bois”. The toys are delivered to Cluny (Saône-et-Loire). The manager of the toy store “Alice Mère de famille”, France de Bouteiller, has ordered 300 pieces, and is happy to offer toys made only a few kilometers away. “These days, embarking on a three-way adventure is not easy, and that’s also why you have to support them as much as possible”, she confides.
