in Rwanda, gorillas are preserved

Mountain gorillas live between the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. In the heart of the Rwandan rainforest, they attract many visitors every year. Tour groups are escorted by Volcanoes National Park rangers. “I see them. Oh my God, it’s amazing”, cries a tourist, moved by this encounter. A few meters from her, the great apes are moving. “We are so close, we can really approach them”rejoiced another.

Further on, visitors come across the silverback gorilla, the dominant male, five times more powerful than a man. “He’s huge, about 200 kilos. At the age of 12, the gray hairs start to grow on their back, that means they are adults”, explains Roger Amani, guide at the Volcanoes National Park. For an hour with the gorillas, you have to pay 1,300 euros per person. Thanks to the efforts of veterinarians, the preservation of the species is at its peak.
