Inviting young people to think about the challenges of tomorrow’s world is the objective of the “Our Futures” festival, which is held in Rennes until March 27. It is in this context that a participatory workshop was organized to learn how to build an oven that works thanks to the rays of the sun. #TheyHaveTheSolution

Without energy consumption and without risk of fire, the solar oven has a future even in Brittany. The proof, a participatory workshop was organized in Rennes to learn how to build your own model. It brought together a dozen participants passionate about solar energy such as Hugues Aubin, founder of the “CC Lab” association. “What is impressive is to know that with this simple object, even in the event of a power failure, if the weather is nice enough in one day, it is more than enough to cook almost anything in a closed containers. “

In this workshop, we work with recycled materials. The idea: to concentrate the sun’s rays in an airtight and insulated box equipped with light-reflecting panels. ” To make the interior lining and the reflectors, we went to get an offset plate from a printer to reflect the sun’s rays towards the cocote.” A solar oven that consumes no renewable energy and can reach 180 degrees. Another advantage, as it does not emit smoke, you can use it on a balcony.

This workshop is not an isolated event. It was entrusted to the association Climate change lab as part of the festival “Our futures” organized by Campus World, The Free Fields and the metropolis of Rennes. For 6 days, until March 27, this event aims to give “the floor to the next generation” (youth) on climate and societal topics.
