In the middle of the crowd, a blaze that the firefighters are trying to put out. According to the Palestinian presidency, at least 35 people died in the attack. Emergency services treated dozens of injured people, including women and children, who were then rushed to hospitals. Some are taken directly to the morgue.
The Palestinian presidency speaks of “massacre” and accuses Israel of deliberately targeting the encampment. The IDF confirms the strikes but says it targeted two Hamas officials: Yacine Rabia and Khaled Nagar. Since May 7, the Israeli army has stepped up operations to destroy the last Hamas fighters in Rafah, despite the express request of the International Court of Justice to cease this military offensive.
