“I don’t know who convinced the other, but we’re both here!” Smiling, mother and daughter find themselves arm in arm for the demonstration in favor of the climate in Dijon. “It’s a concern that drives us both, I was brought up on this issue, and today I’m militant enough to convince my mother to come demonstrate with me” assures the young woman.
This theme mobilizes people of all generations. The signs mix seriousness and humour, with the idea of calling out and triggering dialogue.
“Winter sports resorts have less and less snow” assures Manon who grew up in the mountains. “With my roommate, we try to reduce our consumption. We pay attention to our heating, our diet, and for my part I avoid new clothes, I go to thrift stores a lot” says the 19-year-old student.
“The fight for the climate is not a question of generations” reminds Claire. “Already in the 1970s, we were concerned about ecology. Today the question mobilizes all age groups”
Often presented as a “clean” energy because without greenhouse gas emissions, nuclear power is not necessarily favored by the demonstration. Participants recall that the main source of energy in France produces above all toxic waste that last more than 100,000 years.
