Dozens of boxes filled with notebooks and pens are strewn on the ground, in the premises of the Secours Populaire in Boulazac. Like every year before the start of the school year, the association organizes distribution for children in need. In the context of inflation, the price of school supplies has increased by 4.25% in France this year. “I take colored pencils, notebooks, double copies”, Jurgen list, all smiles. “That way I don’t have to go to the store and pay too expensive deals”, sums up the schoolboy, who is returning to 5th grade.
Ten new computers for high school students in difficulty
To make this distribution, the Secours Populaire de Dordogne organized two days of collection at the Auchan supermarket in Marsac. Since Monday, dozens of families came to enjoy it. The association also donated ten new laptops for high school students. “We still have demand so we will manage to find used computers”, specifies Christine Bernard, the general secretary of the Secours Populaire in the department.
Clothing is also available. The association also helps college students in buying a scientific calculator and new students from Périgueux by avoiding paying insurance for their accommodation. The distribution continues even after the start of the school year.
