A piece of local history that has gone up in smoke

This Monday evening, it is a spectacle of desolation that the owners of this family sawmill have before their eyes. The company is established in northern Alsace since 1954. It specializes in the manufacture of pallets and in the sawing of Scots pine. It employs around thirty people.

For three years, it was the grandchildren, a brother and a sister, Anne-Sophie and Philippe Bender who took over the business. In shock, they did not want to confide in the microphone of France Bleu Alsace. “It hurts to see this” summarized one of the employees who was on site when the fire started. Now only a few buildings are still standing.
