IN PICTURES – Montaigu benefits from its renovated station

1,500 travelers pass through it every day. Half an hour from Nantes Montague station is increasingly popular. It is today the 3rd busiest station in Vendée and even the 2nd for TER. After 3 years of work, the station has just acquired new facilities: reception hall, bike box, underpass, new shelters. And soon a free car park with 500 spaces silo will be built to meet passenger demand.

“It’s magnificent, there was a great need for it (…) It is above all essential that there are still stations in medium-sized cities, it makes it easier to travel to the largest metropolises” judge these travelers.

Nearly half of the construction site of 11.10 million euros was funded by the region Pays de la Loire. “Thanks to an underground passage, we make the station accessible to people with reduced mobility and then we were able to modernize all the platforms” explains Christophe Huau territorial director for Brittany Pays de la Loire for the SNCF. The most impressive part is undoubtedly the 28m long rail bridge allowing a road passage under the rails. “The development of transport is essential for the region and in this context of energy crisis it all makes sense” adds the president of the region. Christelle Morancais.

It is an event and an emotion. Antoine Chereau

And it’s not just a station that’s been reborn, but a new district with more than 300 accommodations individual and collective will arise from the ground underlines – smile on the lips and moved – the president of the agglomeration Terres de Montaigu Antoine Chereau: “It was necessary that by connecting 2 stations, it would not only be favorable to those who have public transport on the other side, but that we could create the necessary conditions for services, hotels, housing near the station (…) This new district will be able to take advantage of this station as an objective of entry door and not only of departure door”.
