IN PICTURES – A race of waiters in the streets of Sarlat

It’s all about balance and dexterity, it is Nicolas who says it. He has his technique, the five glasses in a circle, and the plastic cup in the middle to prevent him from falling. “A real lemonade, he balances his tray”, smiled the waiter. The starting signal will be launched, everyone stands in line on the town hall square.

A one kilometer route through the streets of Sarlat

The object of the game is to successfully complete the one-kilometre course in the streets of Sarlat, above all by not dropping your board. They are fifteen in all to participate. On the tray, each one put down five glasses, filled, and a glass of champagne. Forbidden to run, you have to walk, forbidden to cheat and shorten the course, and of course, you have to lose as little water as possible on the way. The starting signal is given, everyone rushes off, one hand behind their back in the crowded streets. We jostle, glasses fall to the ground, and finally, it is Eliott who crosses the finish line first. He is a waiter at the Belle Epoque, he completed the course in 4 minutes and 53 seconds.
