November 8 | Denis Coderre was running for mayor of Montreal, like Jean Drapeau 61 years before him. Her ambition, however, came up against a more popular Valérie Plante. The defeat was obviously hard to swallow. “It took a very long time, five, six hours, before agreeing to give his speech of defeat,” says Valérian Mazataud. When the politician finally comes out of his dressing room, “a crowd of photographers and cameramen” strafe his crestfallen face. “It’s jostling, it’s impossible.” After a speech, the photos of which turned out to be “too classic”, Valérian Mazataud tried to seize Denis Coderre’s exit from the track. His patience pays off, because he thus succeeds in capturing “the last political steps of Denis Coderre, both literally and figuratively”. Valérian Mazataud Le Devoir
