IN PHOTO | Customer returns 2002 television to Costco

A Costco member went viral after bringing a very large television purchased in 2002 back to the store.

An image shared by a Reddit user shows the massive screen mounted on a rolling platform in the customer service line at a Costco in Pennsylvania.

This would in all likelihood be a Samsung HCL552W screen, which was sold on tablets in 2002.

Today, the store chain accepts the return of electronic devices within 90 days of purchase. However, prior to 2007, Costco’s policy stated that there was no time limit on getting a refund; members could therefore return their purchases even several years later.

That’s obviously what this Costco member had in mind when he returned this 20-year-old television.

“I didn’t see the person who brought this article,” wrote the Internet user who shared the famous photo.

“I only saw the employees making the reimbursement. Their response was to say: ‘It complies with the regulations’ and to shrug their shoulders,” he adds.

The post garnered more than 67,000 reactions and some 4,000 comments on Reddit.
