Sixty-seven years later, the Volta has made a comeback in the PO! This Tuesday, March 22, the second stage of the Tour of Catalonia ended in Perpignan, after more than 200 kilometers of racing from l’Escala, near Girona.
The peloton arrived around 5 p.m. A stage that was played in a sprint. And it was the Australian Kaden Groves who won in front of several hundred spectators gathered behind the barricades. There were fierce fans but also neophytes, families. François himself came with his son: “It’s honestly great. We had access to the runners at the end of the race, my child was able to collect a water bottle. It’s a very nice atmosphere.“With his cycling cap on his head, Joris abounds:
It is an honor to receive the Tour of Catalonia. We also belong to this region, so it would be great if the Volta could pass more in the future!
On Wednesday March 23, the third stage will join Perpignan to the ski resort of La Molina, in Spain. If you want to follow the beginning of the stage, meeting is fixed at 12:50 p.m. in front of the Castillet.
