Saturday June 18 was a particularly hot day in Paris. While some prefer to take shelter from the heat, even if it means staying at home, others brave the temperatures.

In the capital, the air shimmers and the bitumen heats up. Saturday June 18, it was 37 degrees. “It is extremely difficult, in Paris, the peak of heat, because we are looking everywhere for a place to cool the children”, explains a father. To cool off, all means are good: all the fountains are taken by storm, in particular that of the Trocadéro, transformed into an open-air swimming pool.

For a group of students from the Czech Republic, taking a break was essential. “I was nauseous, I almost fainted, but now I’m better”, says one of them. Others take refuge in the cool, in the gardens of the Petit Palais. For one of these visitors, “the idea is to continue and visit Paris even in this heat”. In duplex from the banks of the Seine, the journalist Naoufel El Khaouafi explains that we are waiting “up to 27 degrees at night, around 2 a.m.”.
