The staff of the Orleans hospital (Loiret) is on strike. Thursday, April 7, patients were turned away from the emergency room, which only treats vital necessities.
In Orléans (Loiret), some patients are not received in the hospital emergency room, Thursday April 7. For several days, many nurses and emergency care assistants have been on sick leave. After the closure of 150 hospital beds since September 2021, they denounce unbearable working conditions. “It was inconceivable to see an elderly person for several days on a stretcher (…) we had become machines”explains Marie Lefrançois, night care assistant at the CHRO.
A delegation of caregivers was received by the Regional Health Agency. “We, what we intend to ask for today, are massive hirings, of course, and possibly, a use of interim”, says Sylvie Bertuit, departmental general secretary CGT Santé du Loiret. Thursday, April 7, the doctors, on strike, provide the service only for vital emergencies.
