In Normandy, superhero fans and history buffs shoot the film “Wonder Woman 1944” on the landing sites

The shooting of Jacques Hersant’s short film takes place in La Manche. This amazing fiction traces the adventures of superheroes after D.Day in 1944.

The actress Louise Molinaro embodies Wonder Woman in this fan-film shot at the moment on the emblematic sites of the Normandy landings (France 3 Normandie)

If you come across Wonder Woman in the Cotentin, rest assured, you are not dreaming. The 1940s American comic book superheroine donned her costume for the movie Wonder Woman 1944. The short film is shot in the landing villages.

Wonder Woman vs. Nazis

The action of Wonder Woman 1944sIt takes place a few days after the Normandy landings. This “American-style” adventure film tells how very special agents must save a team of American soldiers trapped by an evil Nazi in the village of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont. Among these heroes sent by the American government, we find Dr. Fate, Uncle Sam, Vixen and of course the valiant Wonder Woman played by Louise Molinaro. “He’s a very complete character, it’s like a childhood dream, I have a lot of fun”, rejoices the actress.

Facing her, the nazi command Vandal Savage and his terrible soldiers with superpowers including “the baroness” who does not hesitate to kill resistance fighters in cold blood. “It’s super kiffant this Manichean side, we can afford everything, I love it”, laughs the actress Cindy Philippe.

A crazy bet

At the origin of this slightly crazy project, director Jacques Hersant, who has a whole band of film professionals, history lovers and DC Comics fans at his side. “Superheroes have always marked history, they have always been propaganda tools for allies or for villains, at Marvel for example, Captain America knocked out Hitler quite a few times”, reports the director.

About fifty volunteers gathered within the Multiverse Fan Film collective are mobilized for the filming. Shot with a lot of military vehicles and uniforms on all the emblematic landing sites, the film will also use special effects.

Wonder Woman 1944 should be released on June 6, 2024, for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The 30-minute film will then be visible on Multiverse Fan Films’ YouTube channel
