Thursday January 25, the team from the “An idea for France” section went to meet Silou. This golden retriever took up residence a year ago in a college in Évreux (Eure), in Normandy. His presence helps defuse tensions and helps students concentrate.

Silou is a dog like no other. Every morning, he goes to work at a college in Évreux (Eure), in Normandy. This is the first establishment to have recruited a dog, based on an idea from the physical education teacher. At the start of each course, a person responsible for the golden retriever is designated. His mere presence brings serenity: Silou notably helped a student suffering from school phobia to return to class. With his additional hours in history-geography and SVT, Silou will work 23 hours a week for the next five years, before taking his well-deserved retirement.

Initiatives that make you dream

On the set of 13 Heures, Thursday January 25, journalist Valérie Heurtel reveals that“around fifteen dogs” are present in schools, drawn up by the Handichien association, for a cost “around 15,000 euros”. Other initiatives exist to make young and old alike dream, such as the Petits Princes association which organized a meeting between sick children and the Blues, or the Rêve de senior association, which selects the dreams of elderly people to help them to carry them out.
