Despite the threat, many residents remain without protective equipment. “It’s not normal, we should be more prepared“, regrets a man. The mayor of Nikopol claims to have distributed iodine tablets and masks to each inhabitant. An emergency evacuation plan is even ready, but it remains confidential. “In the last two weeks the situation has gotten worse. There are always more bombings on the plant“, worries Dimitri Orlov, mayor of Energodar, the city where the plant is located.
