The administrative court of Nice has just suspended the municipal decree making it compulsory to wear a mask in public transport, reports France Bleu Azur on Friday July 8.

According to the court, such a measure is not “not appropriate, proportionate and necessary”. The judge relies on the fact that at the national level, the government speaks of “recommendation” But no “of obligation”while recalling the regional vaccination rate, around 75%.

It was the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi who announced this week the return of the obligation to wear a mask in public transport in his city from Monday July 11. Three other municipalities which have also chosen to return to wearing a mask could see their decree suspended: Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer and Vence.
