On Saturday evening, the driver of the burnt-out car crashed into a scooter in Marseille, killing one person.

The two men, arrested on Sunday, August 4 in Marseille for destroying a car involved in a fatal road accident, were indicted and placed under judicial supervision on Tuesday, August 6, the Marseille prosecutor’s office said. The two men are being prosecuted for “destruction of property by fire” and “destruction of evidence resulting from the commission of a crime.”
The two are a 15-year-old minor and a young adult. For the latter, the prosecution had requested that he be placed in provisional detention, and has therefore appealed the decision to place him under judicial supervision.
The two men were arrested in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) and are being prosecuted for destroying the car involved in a fatal road accident on Saturday evening. The driver of the car and “the woman who accompanied him” are always “actively sought” by investigators, recalls the prosecution. The two young people deny their involvement in the accident and claim to have been asked to burn the vehicle.
As a reminder, on Saturday evening, Place de Lenche in Marseille, a motorist driving a BMW 2 series “deliberately hit in a very violent manner, after a chase, a Yamaha scooter ridden by two individuals who had just violently stolen” his watch, the prosecution explained. The driver of the scooter, “an adult unfavorably known to the police and justice services and residing illegally in the territory”died at the scene of the accident.
The next day, shortly after 4 a.m., in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, investigators arrested “a young adult and a minor aged 15”, near “of a burning vehicle turning out to be the BMW vehicle involved”adds the public prosecutor.
