On the floor dedicated to the children of the Timone hospital in Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, dilapidated rooms are renovated on a voluntary basis thanks to the action of the association “Les smiles de Garibaldi”.

On the 14th floor of the Timone hospital in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), dedicated to children, Patrick Corradi is in a hurry, because he must finish the renovation work before the evening of Sunday August 21. He is the head of the voluntary site of the association “Les smiles de Garibaldi”. A former teacher, he was touched by the project, which aims to improve the daily lives of sick children. “The place is so strong that we surpass ourselves. I arrive at 7 in the morning, and I leave at 7 in the evening”says Patrick Corradi.

This floor of the hospital was indeed in dire need of a lick of paint. Left as it was since 1979, the furnishings and rooms were dilapidated and unsuitable. Paul Amas, the president of the humanitarian association “The smiles of Garibaldi”, a dentist by training, launched a kitty on social networks. 600,000 euros were collected. “We have put forward the human. Where politics fails, the heart starts again”, rejoices Paul Amas. Nine bedrooms have been renovated, as well as the kitchen and two games rooms.
