Nearly 500 schools set themselves a challenge: students and their parents had to try to stop checking their screens, phones and social networks for ten days. Verdict of a family, which has just completed the experience.

In Beaufort-sur-Anjou (Maine-et-Loire), Cindy Coquereau enjoys a family outing, and immortalizes her daughter’s sporting exploits with her cell phone. “Obviously, (…) we want to take photos of the children,” she admits. For ten days, the family changed their habits: banning the use of cell phones, computers and tablets. A test for the parents of this family of three children, but the week was well experienced by Lise, their 10-year-old daughter.

“At times it was harder than others, especially when I was all alone at home, I had to find something to do. But it allowed me to disconnect and do lots of fun activities”, she assures. Like her, 200 students from Maine-et-Loire went without screens in class as at home. To avoid any cheating, the challenge turned into a game, using a logbook allowing you to accumulate points and help your class win.

Two days after the end of the challenge, Lise and Anaïs played the console for the first time. Normally, they spend almost two hours a day in front of screens. The experience allowed them to do more sports and spend more time with family.
