The battle between the Russians and the Ukrainians is played out around the cities of Severodonetsk and Lyssytchansk. “It is in Severodonetsk where there are now fierce battles over our country. They are bombarding Lysychansk from their positions. It is far too dangerous to be here, we must flee now”, says Nikolaj, a Ukrainian officer. Many residents of Lysychansk fled. A pensioner who cooks on the floor could not leave, he no longer has electricity or water at home. “My children and my grandchildren were in shelters. In Severodonetsk and here. How could I leave them? They were evacuated and I will be next”assures Juri, a Ukrainian pensioner.
