Netflix, which lost subscribers for the first time in more than a decade, on Monday (May 2) canceled an animated series produced by Meghan Markle, the American wife of British Prince Harry. The platform has confirmed in an email that she was discontinuing the series project Pearl announced last July, citing “strategic decisions” also concerning other animated series.
Meghan and Harry, who left the UK in 2020, set up a production company in California and struck a deal to create content for Netflix. Series Pearl was to tell the story of a 12-year-old teenager encouraged in her personal development by famous women. Netflix assured in its press release that it would continue to work with the couple and its production company Archewell.
