“Things could have been better organized” at the Stade de France, admitted Gérald Darmanin, even if he maintains his accusations against English supporters, who, according to him, have counterfeit tickets. The Minister of the Interior, auditioned Wednesday afternoon in the Senate, sketched the beginning of an apology, after the chaotic evening of last Saturday. He announces in particular that he has asked for sanctions from the prefect of police, and ensures that the supporters attacked will be able to file a complaint in their country.

But in Liverpool, the supporters are not convinced. At the gates of the Anfield stadium, a banner – which remained hung for a few hours – sets the tone: “Darmanin, liar!”, can we read there. All the supporters think so, and the hearing of the French minister before the Senate does not change anything, for Kevin: “He mostly gives the impression that he’s trying to make up for his own lies. But we don’t accept his apologies. Besides, it doesn’t really look like an apology.”
“His half mea culpa comes too lateadds Dylan, for whom Gérald Darmanin shouldn’t have blamed the Reds fans from the start.” 35,000 or 40,000 English came to the stadium without tickets, the Minister of the Interior reaffirmed it, the figure is however very disputed.
And when Gérald Darmanin apologizes “sincerely” that tear gas could have reached children, Wayne thinks that is not enough: “At the same time, he continues to say that the tear gas was used to avoid stampedes… But it caused more problems than it avoided!”
Some, who were robbed or attacked near the Stade de France on Saturday evening, are happy to be able to file a complaint in the United Kingdom, perhaps even to obtain compensation. But, Dylan is convinced, “the police will throw our complaints in the trash, without even looking at them.” “We are angryadds Kevin. Darmanin? All I want is for him to leave his post, or be removed from his post.”
