In Lisieux, the Sidel company will close its doors at the end of 2023, 109 employees in the dark

In Lisieux, the employees of the Sidel company will demonstrate in front of their company, this afternoon at 2 p.m. They learned that their factory was going to close in December 2023. It employs 109 people, including around ten apprentices. They have been producing machines for packaging drinks, food or cosmetics for more than 50 years. Sidel is now a subsidiary of the Tetra group based in Laval, in Mayenne, which should offer reclassifications, but there will also be layoffs.

We don’t want to leave the Lisieux site, only one of us is ready to accept the managers’ proposal – Stéphane Herfort, union representative and employee of Sidel for 22 years

According to the unions, among the employees, 16 of them would have the opportunity to go to work in Dijon. The group also plans 54 job openings in Octeville-sur-mer (Seine-Maritime). The company’s machines will be relocated to Dijon, India and, subsequently, to Parma in Italy, according to Stéphane Herfort, employee of the company and UNSA union representative.
