Muralism creates social ties

It’s a ray of sunshine in the heart of a district where the grayness of the buildings dominates. As often, Romain Froquet was inspired by what surrounds his work to achieve it. “Old stone is very present in Le Mans. I also felt this link to the earth. Which gives this very earthy ochre-red-yellow hue. And then, I wanted to do something solar” explains Romain Froquet. The artist, who expresses his art both in galleries and in the street, above all seeks connection with the public when he creates outdoors. “We see that people observe, take pictures, discuss. We feel that it challenges. In muralism, I think that’s what’s important. It’s not necessarily that we like or that we don’t ‘don’t like it. Something’s going on’ he reports.

Abstract, urban art and ethnic influences

Born in Lyon, Romain Froquet is an autodidact. This forties, who has been painting for over twenty years, has managed to make a name for himself in the world of street art. In 2017, the town hall of Paris entrusted him, near Les Halles, with the decoration of an outdoor multi-sports ground. 400 m2 on the ground with ultra-design arabesques where shades of blue rub shoulders with touches of yellow and orange.

The famous Parisian department store Le Printemps Haussman also regularly calls on his talents. In 2015, Romain Froquet painted two frescoes on the ceiling of 2n/a stage. In 2021, he decorated, with two other urban artists, a new sales space dedicated to second-hand clothes. His style, which mixes abstract, urban and tribal art, seduces street art lovers as well as gallery owners and exhibition curators. From Moscow to Geneva, via Madrid or Houston, his works are regularly exhibited.
